Modesto ranks eighth among city governments for technology

MODESTO - Modesto is among the top 10 most technology-advanced cities in the 2012 Digital Cities Survey published by the Center for Digital Government. The organization recognizes cites that use technology to operate more efficiently.

"Collaboration within our public and private partnerships have enabled Modesto to utilize technology to support smarter, faster and leaner government processes," said Bryan Sastokas, chief information officer for the city of Modesto.  "It is exciting for the City to be recognized for our use of technology to promote new platforms of innovation in government operations and public service delivery."

The survey was open to all U.S. cities with a population of 30,000 or more and respondent cities were classified into four size-based categories.  Modesto tied for eight place in the 125,000-249,999 population category.

"Cities that are investing in technology are seeing tremendous cost savings that are critical to operations and their ability to meet higher demand for services," said Todd Sander, executive director for the Center for Digital Government. "These cities are true innovators and we applaud them as they work in the spirit of collaboration to provide extraordinary value to constituents despite budget setbacks."
